The Colt's comeback

The Indianapolis Colts have been struggling this year. Before Sunday's their record was 2-2. They lost to the Chicago Bears on a Monday night, and later on lost to their division rivals, Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sunday's game against the Houston Texans was another division rival, and a big game for them. They were trailing the Texans for most of the game. With four minutes to go in the game they were trailing by ten points and the Texans had the ball. Backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels scrambled out of the pocket and tried to get the first down by leaping over a defender. He was hit by two different defenders and did a sideways flip and fumbled the ball. Linebacker Gary Bracket picked it up and ran it back for a touchdown.
The Colts then came up with a big defensive stop. The Colts Marched down the field and Peyton Manning finished it off by throwing a miraculous touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne.

Kurt Warner contimplating retirement

Kurt Warner started out his career in the AFL, the Arena Football League. He made his way into the NFL and became a starter for the St. Louis Rams. With the Rams he won a Super Bowl and two league MVP's. Later in his career he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. He did not come in and become the starter right away, he had to earn it. He eventually won the spot over young quarterback Matt Leinhart. This season he was done very well, ranking in the top five quarterbacks for fantasy points.
Last week against the New York Jets, his team was trailing by three touchdowns with only five minutes left in the game. He threw up a deep pass in the endzone to wide receiver Anquan Bolden. Bolden was sandwiched between two defenders and went down hard, he was taken off the field on a stretcher. He was diagnosed with a broken nasal cavity, and required surgery. Kurt Warner took this injury hard, he felt responsible for leading Anquan Bolden into harm. This is when he made the statement that he is considering retirement.

Raiders getting better?

Many people have questioned the Raider's owner Al Davis for the firing of head coach Lane Kiffin. Many people, including those inside the locker room thought Kiffin was moving the franchise in the right direction. But as Al Davis notoriously said, "I don't have time to wait for Lane Kiffin to become a good coach, besides I only want a coach for about five years anyway". They also disagreed on many other issues, such as the drafting of JaMarcus Russell as the number one overall pick.

So with a new head coach leading the charge, and running back Justin Fargas healthy for Sundays action against the New Orlean Saints as well as just coming off the buy week, the Raiders are looking good.

Bush soars, Saints fall

The New Orlean Saints played their division rivals, the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Viking's superstar Adrian Peterson was held to 33 yards, averaging just 1.5 yards a carry, yet the Vikings still came out on top. Thirty-seven year old Gus Frerotte and their strong defense led the charge last night. Gus Frerotte threw a fourth quarter touchdown pass to Bernard Berrian to tie the score. The Saints marched down the field without much time left and attempted the game winning field goal, but missed. The Vikings offense was able to drive and did what the Saints could not, and made the game winning field goal.

Saints runningback Reggie Bush led the Saints with 279 all-purpose yards, scoring on two punt returns. If I was told before the game that Reggie Bush would return two punts for touchdowns and the Vikings Adrian Peterson would rush for 33 yards, I would not believe the Vikings won.

Moss back in the endzone

Randy moss caught a touchdown pass in the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. Tom Brady did not throw it to him. Tom Brady suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of this game. Later on in the game, backup quarterback Matt Cassel completed a third and long pass to Randy Moss to keep the drive alive. Later on in the drive he caught a go ahead touchdown pass in the back of the endzone, earning himself 17 fantasy points. Over the next two weeks he was held in check only have a few catches, having 2 points in each of the next two games. With a buy week in week four, Matt Cassel and Randy Moss were given time to work on their timing. Cassel got a better feel of Moss' routes and Moss got a feel for the way Cassel threw the football. In Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, Moss caught a long touchdown pass and earned himself another 17 fantasy points.

"The Fish are no longer food"

The Miami Dolphins in the 2007 season won only one game, going 1-15 for the worst record in the NFL. After the first two weeks of the season it looked like they were heading down the same road. They lost first to the New York Jets in Brett Favre's first start as a Jet, then in the second week to the strong offense of the Arizona Cardinals. It looked like they were going to be 0-3 when they were scheduled against the New England Patriots who went 16-0 in week three. That didn't happen. The Dolphins surprised The Patriots with a formation used with some college football programs and rarely seen in the NFL. It is a formation where running back Ronnie Brown takes a direct snap from the center. From there, other running back Ricky Williams runs past Ronnie Brown. Ronnie Brown can either hand it off to Ricky Williams or keep it himself. On one play against the Patriots Ronnie Brown kept it himself, ran to the left, and threw a touchdown pass to the wide open tight end of the Dolphins for a touchdown. The Dolphins used a similar offense in the following week against the San Diego Chargers, and beat them by a touchdown. Now after four weeks the Dolphins are 2-2, already doubling their last season win total. Look for them to perhaps make a playoff run.

Cincinnati Bengals on the upsurge?

Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati have started out the 2008 season with an 0-4 record. Yes, that is very disappointing to a team with a high powered offense and a pretty solid defense, even disappointing for any team in the NFL, but can there be an upside to their season? Yes.
Carson Palmer and his two go to wide receivers Chad "ocho cinco" Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh were not on the same page in the first two weeks of the season. Even though they lost to the Super Bowl champs of 07, the New York Giants the following week, the offense started to look like the Bengals of the old. But Carson Palmer was injured and missed the week four game against the Cleveland Browns. Granted, it is going to be very tough for the Bengals to beat the Dallas Cowboys this week, even if Carson Palmer does come back for it, they have a good chance to start winning games the rest of the season. They are getting another offensive weapon back in wide receiver Chris Henry, and Palmer is feeling good after rehabbing and expects to start this week.
Watch out for the Bengals to make a late season playoff race.
